Social Anxiety

This condition can effect between 2 and 10 per cent of the population. Often it can take years to diagnose (the average is twenty years).

People with social anxiety can experience difficulties in:
Public speaking
Initiating or maintaining conversations
Participating in small groups
Dating
Speaking to authority figures
Attending parties
Eating in public

  • Often people with this condition feel that they will be criticized by other people or feel that they will say or do something that will humiliate or embarrass themselves.
  • Such individuals will often experience physical symptoms of anxiety including blushing, sweating, trembling, confused thoughts, muscular tension, and stomach problems. Sometimes they may even experience panic attacks.
  • People often know that their reactions to the situation are excessive and extreme but can’t seem to do anything about it.
  • If these fears and responses sound familiar to you and if they impact on you on a daily basis then you may benefit from the program.
